An integral part of our story in Porcelain Presence dates back to the 1980s when Brian and Esther Darnell were children. How they were treated in their younger years is key to the story and their character development as it shows what they endured in an abusive household, and portrays why they have both turned out the way that they have.
These scenes were shot over a period of 4 days. We shot 2 days at a cottage in Kidderminster , for the location of the Darnell Family house, and another 2 shoots on location in Birmingham - 1 in the woods and 1 in an old garage surrounded by 1980s cars. Young Brian is played by Harry Lake, and Young Esther by Samantha Griffiths. Janet Darnell and Henry Darnell are played by Nikki Wright and Rob Talbot. The four cast do an excellent job of portraying on screen the dysfunctional family that they are.
