Sharon is a feisty character who lives next door to Anna and Brian with her 8 year old son Benji. She puts on a hard as nails front but underneath is soft as jelly. She has strong morals and would do anything to protect those she loves. Not afraid of conflict, Sharon has had her fair share of scraps over the years, and doesn't hesitate to get involved when she hears her neighbour in distress. Unfortunately for Sharon, she can't always walk away unscathed.

Anna has recently and mysteriously moved to Wickery Dene in a hurry with her husband Brian. Anna is a shadow of her former self, she has fallen victim to domestic violence like so many other people around the world. We all put on a front - but behind closed doors - things aren't always as they seem. Despite all of the abuse, she still loves Brian - but she is afraid to leave him. Un-beknown to Anna, one day soon she may be presented with an answer where she may not have to.

Brian is the wretched, abusive husband of Anna. Even though he and Anna have not long lived in Wickery Dene, the neighbours are already suspicious of the goings on in the house. Brian plays vicious mind games with Anna to get what he wants, and gets kicks out of controlling her. He has a very strange relationship with his sister Esther, which dates back to them living in an abusive household when they were children. Both him and Esther grew attached to porcelain dolls when they were children - An obsession which has not left either of them even into adulthood. Brian thinks he is invincible, a tale which he will soon find out is definitely NOT the case.

Benji is the 8 year old son of Sharon, and is Penny's godson. He lives alone with his mum next door to Anna and Brian. Benji loves cats, and has his own cat Little-Bit whom he adores. Little Bit goes missing and he won't give up looking for her not matter the cost - EVEN if it can potentially end in disastrous consequences for him.

Esther is the older sister to Brian. They have a strange relationship, which stems from their abusive childhood and their obsession with porcelain dolls. Esther is in a psychiatric unit as a permanent resident, as she is a danger to others. For Esther, there is a very bleak look on her being released any time soon. Since her childhood, she has a porcelain doll called Angelina who she holds very dear, whispering things to Angelina and unnerving the hospital porters. Brian visits regularly like clockwork, almost every day but - how will Esther react when he suddenly disappears?
